In 2020, there are no significant changes to the Chevrolet Impala in terms of design or amenities. However, the base trim is now called the LT instead of the LS. There is a second trim in the lineup called the Premier. Along with the renaming of trim levels, the Impala also has some changes to its mechanical components this year. In 2020, the four-cylinder engine is eliminated from the lineup. Both trims are powered by a potent V6 engine with an automatic transmission.
The latest Impala also gets more standard and available safety equipment across the board. You can also add more safety features through add-on packages. Along with these changes, the Chevy Impala still offers an exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride. It also has a spacious interior that offers comfortable seats and plenty of room for occupants in both rows. There is ample cargo capacity in the 2020 Chevy Impala. With extra packages on both trims, it's easy to make the 2020 Impala look just the way you want.
The 2020 Chevy Impala is offered in two trim levels. The base is the LT. You'll find a pleasing array of standard features with this trim level without upgrading to the higher-level trim. Even the base Impala is well-equipped with an eight-inch infotainment system that has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and satellite radio. The seats are a combination of cloth and faux leather. Other notable amenities in this trim include a power-operated driver's seat, dual-zone climate control with vents in the back row, and keyless entry.
The base Impala also features premium technology with a 4G WiFi hotspot as a standard amenity and multiple USB charging ports for convenience. On the outside, it has 18-inch wheels and heated mirrors. Two packages are also available for this trim level. One is the Driver Confidence package that adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors. The other is a Convenience package that has a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a third power outlet, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The higher-end Premier trim features larger 19-inch wheels, special exterior accents, and bold xenon headlights to distinguish its exterior from the base trim.
Inside, it gets a high-end Bose sound system with 11 speakers, a CD player, and an infotainment system with navigation. Heated seats are standard, and the Premier also gets all the amenities offered in the base trim's Driver Confidence package. A sunroof is available for a standalone add-on. The Premier can also be ordered with 20-inch wheels and more safety technology.
Both trim levels of the 2020 Chevy Impala share the same engine, which is a 3.6L with six cylinders. This engine, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, produces up to 305 HP and has a maximum torque production of 264 LB-FT. Front-wheel drive is standard.
When it comes to safety, the Chevy Impala earns top ratings with its combination of passive and active safety technologies. Its standard safety amenities include ten airbags, electronic traction control, power-locking doors, and brake assist. Rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change alert are standard, while lane departure warning is available.
