What's New For the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse?

Now in its second generation of production, the Chevrolet Traverse receives some updates in its 2020 model year. Gone is the turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine present in previous models. However, the longstanding MyLink infotainment system is replaced by the recently introduced Infotainment 3. And a buckle-to-drive feature is added to Teen Driver, which is a system for encouraging better driving habits in younger drivers.

2020 Traverse Trims & Features

A three-row full-size SUV with premium cloth trim, the 2020 Chevy Traverse is split into L, LS, LT, RS, Premier, and High Country trims. As the base-level trim, the L is only available as a front-wheel-drive vehicle. Front-seating consists of an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat.

Standard comfort and convenience features include a 3.5-inch monochromatic driver information center, tri-zone automatic temperature control, cruise control, proximity key entry, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, the OnStar communications system, Active Noise Cancellation technology, the aforementioned Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with a 7-inch color touchscreen, six-speaker audio, six USB ports for connecting portable devices, a trial subscription to SiriusXM radio, and 10 cupholders.

On the LT trim level and above, Chevrolet replaces the bench-style seat in the second row with a pair of captain's seats to reduce maximum occupancy from eight to seven. Enhancing the Traverse at that trim level are features such as front-seat heating and power lumbar control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote start, 4.2-inch color driver information center (in place of the 3.5-inch monochromatic one), an 8-inch color touchscreen (in place of the 7-inch), a universal home remote, and the SiriusXM 360L platform for your satellite radio service.

Notably, the LT is the only trim level that offers a choice between cloth and leather seat upholstery. Leather seat trim, a rear seat mirror, 8-inch color touchscreen navigation, and a 10-speaker Bose stereo system appear as enhancements or standard features on the RS trim. At the Premier level, you get a driver-side memory system, front-seat cooling, rear-seat heating, and wireless charging. Only the High Country has perforated leather seat trim.

2020 Chevrolet Traverse Horsepower

Powering the 2020 Chevy Traverse is a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. It includes stop/start technology to save on fuel consumption by automatically shutting down the engine when at a complete stop. The V6 is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. For safety, the 2020 Traverse starts with features such as a seven-airbag system, a rear-seat reminder, a rearview camera, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, the aforementioned Teen Driver, StabiliTrak (for electronic stability and traction control), LED daytime running lamps, and a theft-deterrent system.

Upper-level trims are more likely to have enhancements or additions such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, HD surround vision, and lane-keep assist with lane departure warning.
