What's New For the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV?

The 2021 model year finds the Chevrolet Bolt EV retaining its position as a prime example of a thoughtfully designed and well-built electric vehicle. It recently had its range gain 21 miles and rearview and surround-view cameras upgraded with high-definition (HD) image technology. The Bolt continues to provide a spacious cabin, quick acceleration, nimble handling, and DC Fast Charging ability-charging the battery up to 100 miles in 30 minutes-is now standard on the upper-level trim.

2021 Bolt EV Has Abundant Features

The 2021 Bolt is a five-door subcompact hatchback and is available in the LT and Premier trims. It has two rows of seats for a maximum capacity of five people. Infotainment is provided by the combination of a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system, Bluetooth hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a Wi-Fi hotspot, two USB ports and an audio jack for playing media from mobile devices, three months of SiriusXM Radio, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen. Proximity keyless entry and remote start are also standard. The Premier gains front-seat heating and ventilation, rear-seat heating, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

For its powertrain, the Bolt combines a 200-horsepower electric motor, a single-speed automatic transmission, and a lithium-ion battery pack. The driving range is estimated at 259 miles, with fuel economy estimated at 127 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (mpg-e) in the city and 108 mpg-e on the highway.

Driving assistance is provided by an HD rearview camera and LED daytime running lamps. For protection, if there's a crash, the car can deploy any of 10 airbags, consisting of knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, two frontal impact airbags, and two side-impact and two front and two rear side curtain airbags.

The Premier gets a lot more safety features, with additions that include lane keep assist and lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, an HD surround-view camera with rear parking sensors (in place of the rearview one), and a rear camera mirror.
