Ahead of this year's “legendary DAYTONA 500 race,” Chevrolet premiered its Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype. Though it didn't compete, this forward-looking concept showcased the next era of electric racing. Here are its most striking features.
High-Performance Electric Powertrain
Instead of a V8, the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype runs on an advanced all-electric powertrain. Its trio of six-phase motors produces about 1,300 horsepower and revs to 15,000 rpm.
A programmable all-wheel drive system lets engineers precisely allocate torque to each wheel. Built on a modified Next Gen chassis, it rides on competition-grade suspension and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires.
True Race Car Styling
While its lines echo the “road-going Chevrolet Blazer SS EV,” the EV.R's race-ready modifications are clear. A wide-body design and large rear wing optimize airflow, and its extra-low stance aids stability through corners.
Motorsports Innovation
Chevy leverages the EV.R NASCAR Prototype to explore new racing technologies that will be applied to its motorsport endeavors and future production cars.
