What's New With the 2018 Colorado?

The Chevy Colorado is back for another year, continuing its reign as one of the hottest-selling midsize trucks in the Orlando area. Arriving at our dealership with several new accomplishments under its belt, including Edmunds.com's Most Wanted Midsize Truck Award and Autobytel Buyer's Choice Award for Best Small Truck, the Colorado is undeniably a compelling choice for small truck shoppers.

The Colorado is mostly unchanged for 2018, with just a few tweaks to its equipment offerings. Continue reading our 2018 Chevrolet Colorado review to learn more!

2018 Colorado Trims & Features

Buyers interested in the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado in Sanford will have plenty of models to choose from, including two body styles (Crew and Extended) and two bed lengths (Short and Long). On top of that, the midsize truck comes in five trims: Base, Work Truck, LT, Z71 and ZR2. New for 2018, the Colorado will also be offered with a special Centennial Edition package in commemoration of Chevy's 100th year of making trucks.

Standard, the Colorado is outfitted with power windows, vinyl upholstery, front bucket seats, a rearview camera, voice controls, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7-inch MyLink touchscreen. Most buyers, however, opt for the popular LT trim, which adds alloy wheels, cloth upholstery and carpeting, an EZ-Lift tailgate, keyless entry, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and satellite radio, just to name a few.

Those seeking off-road capabilities will want to take a close look at the Z71 and ZR2 trims. The former is equipped with upgraded upholstery, additional tech features, all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, an off-road suspension, and dark-tinted 17-inch alloy wheels. The ZR2, on the other hand, comes with monster off-roading extras, including special body work, fender flares, bigger all-terrain tires, a raised suspension with special dampers and an electronically locking rear differential.

2018 Colorado Horsepower Ratings

The 2018 Colorado continues to be offered with three engines: a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder, a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel and a 3.6-liter V6.

The 2.5-liter four is rated at 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque, making it a good choice for those whose daily driving demands don't require too much power. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Diesel fans are sure to find favor with the Colorado's available 181-horsepower, 2.8-liter turbo-diesel, which puts out a whopping 369 lb-ft of torque. This configuration gets the most tow muscle at 7,600 lbs., which is why 2018 Colorado reviews recommend it to those who frequently haul work trailers or campers. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard.

Last, but not least, the Colorado can be had with a 3.6-liter V6. Offering best-in-class horsepower at 308 hp, as well as 275 lb-ft of torque, buyers won't be hurting for power with this configuration. The V6 is matched with a fast and smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 7,000 lbs.
