Chevrolet Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
At Seminole Chevrolet, we like to keep car buyers informed on important topics like vehicle maintenance. The service indicators in your car are there to help you spot a minor problem before it becomes a major issue. Here are ten service indicators you should be familiar with in case of a notification.

Airbag Fault
This light indicates that there's a fault in the airbag system and the computer has set a code. It is highly recommended that you have the supplemental restraint system professionally repaired.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
There is very little fuel remaining in your car. You should stop for gas at the first opportunity. Running on a low level of fuel can damage your fuel pump.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
This indicator most often means that the oil level in your car is low, but it can also indicate a more serious problem. You should check the oil level. If it is okay, your car should be seen by a service professional.

Service Vehicle Soon
Most manufacturers recommend that you change your oil and rotate your tires every 5,000 miles. This light reminds you that it's time to have your car serviced. After the maintenance has been performed, the light will be reset.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
The air pressure in one or more of your car's tires is low. Once you bring the tires up to the right tire pressure, the light will go off. If it stays on, there may be a problem with the TPMS sensor. We can check the sensor and fix it for you.

Slip Indicator
Your car may be equipped with Vehicle Stability Control or Traction Control. These systems will alert you with an indicator when your tires are slipping on the road surface. Use extra caution when driving in these conditions. This indicator should not remain visible. If it does, a malfunction is likely.

Charging System Warning Light
The battery on your car is not being charged properly. There could be a problem with your alternator, or a belt may be broken. You should stop your car as soon as possible and seek the help of a professional.

Brake System
There is a problem with your ABS braking system. The light doesn't mean that you are in immediate danger of brake failure, but you should have your brakes checked and serviced as soon as you can.

Open Door Warning Light
A door on your vehicle has been left open. The indicator could also mean that the trunk is open. Check all doors and the trunk to make sure all are secure.

Coolant Level Warning
The coolant in your car's radiator is low. It needs to be checked as soon as the car is cool. This is a serious warning, and you should not drive the car until the coolant issue has been resolved. The result of doing so could be serious engine damage.
